BELFOR was thrilled to recognize and give back to the heroic members of the North Oakland County Fire Authority (NOCFA) last week at their station in Holly, Michigan. As part of our ongoing commitment to honoring first responders and expressing our gratitude for their service, BELFOR CEO Sheldon Yellen presented a check donation on behalf of BELFOR to the NOCFA department, to assist with future technical training and purchasing advanced equipment.

We are grateful to 7 Action News for highlighting the fantastic work of the NOCFA department and the incredible rescue story of our friend, Pete Hutson.

On Memorial Day Weekend in 2019, the brave members of the NOCFA responded to a call to help Pete, who had been in a serious biking accident. It was a complicated rescue – one that required a lot of skill and technical expertise – but the first responders bravely answered the call and were able to bring Pete to safety.

After hearing this story, we were impressed with the technical methods, skills and determination of the team members who assisted on that day. This donation is just one small token of our appreciation for this rescue and countless others.

To learn more about Pete’s rescue story, check out the Hearts of Heroes episode, which highlights the first responders’ use of land navigation skills, assessment of medical care and advanced techniques to extract Pete out of the woods with more than 25 miles of trails. Also, don’t forget to tune into ABC every Saturday morning for new episodes of Hearts of Heroes to watch more rescue stories and get a behind the scenes look at the worst of nature but the best of humanity.
