While Hurricane Barry weakened to a Tropical Depression late Sunday afternoon, forecasters are closely monitoring the dangerous storm system as it continues to create numerous hazards across the central and eastern United States.

According to The Weather Channel, in addition to localized flooding, there have been several reports of downed trees and power lines across southern Louisiana and Mississippi. In the early hours of Saturday, Barry's strong storm surge force led to at least three levee breaches south of New Orleans, prompting mandatory evacuation orders. High winds and torrential downpours also caused a possible tornado outbreak near Baton Rouge.
