In the early morning on August 27, Hurricane Laura made landfall along the Louisiana coastline as a Category 4 storm. The hurricane generated storm surge, power outages, and widespread storm damage accompanied by intense 100+ mph winds. Once shifting inland, the storm was downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane yet continued to create wind and flood damage hazards and more for millions across the southeastern U.S.
As the global leader in emergency response services, BELFOR’s National Catastrophe Response Team has been closely monitoring this storm since it began developing, and ultimately strengthening, in the Gulf of Mexico. With dozens of offices in the southeast, and additional regional support readily available, BELFOR’s experienced storm recovery crews have mobilized necessary personnel and resources in the Lake Charles and Sulphur areas, and remain ready to respond. From flood damage restoration and water removal services to hurricane cleanup and general storm recovery services, BELFOR has the experience, capabilities, technology and equipment to fully support impacted communities as Hurricane Laura veers East.
We strongly encourage everyone affected, and those still in the storm’s path, to follow official authority recommendations and remain cautious. Spin-off tornadoes and hazardous conditions caused by downed power lines and standing water are additional potential hazards due to the storm. Click here for hurricane recovery tips and more.
